Yoga therapy is an emerging discipline which reflects a need in society for something other than the traditional ways of treating the physical, mental and emotional issues that all of us face at one time or another.
More end more research is being published in reputable journals showing that yoga can be used to help issues ranging from cancer to arthritis and from back pain to chronic stress.
Yoga therapy takes a holistic view of us as human beings, using ancient yogic models to address the underlying causes of our problems and suffering.
When you attend your first yoga therapy session, you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire and answer questions about your physical, emotional and mental health as well as questions about your lifestyle and the choices you make.
What is yoga therapy?
A typical session will include a postural assessment, physical poses, breathing and relaxation techniques and some lifestyle advice. You will be expected to do work at home (anything upwards of five minutes a day, five days per week).
